The experimental short film »To Be A Butter In The City« tells the story of non-linear time and timing of queer coming-of-age. It defies a linear narrative, opening up a space of time-bending and asynchronous experiencing. The film plays with ideas of metamorphosis, taxonomies and abjection, as it draws parallels to the insect world. Away from rigid linearity, towards messy growth, fertile chaos, ecstatic time and queer becoming. An interplay of isolation and community, desire and exploration.
Lending from the concept of »ecstatic time« by José Esteban Muñoz,
the work shows fleeting, temporal moments of queer vulnerability, intimacy. It aims to capture the
non-linear nature of queer coming-of-age. This non-place is a figment, an episode of color
explosions and fertile chaos.
